An AWESOME Yard Sale Day!

I found this yard sale completely by accident and I'm so happy that I did. I was driving by the campus of James Rumsey Technical Institute and noticed that there were people and cars everywhere. Then I saw the magic words written on a sign ...... YARD SALE.... I whipped my car around at the next wide spot in the road and found a great parking spot.
As you can see from these photos, there were tons of vendors and shoppers.

The two pictures above show my favorite finds of the day. On the left, is a Strawberry Shortcake and Apricot tin that I bought for 50 cents. This woman had a table and about ten boxes filled with strawberry themed items. Sadly, her mother, the original collector of all that sweet goodness, passed away in October. This sweet lady was selling what she could bear to part with. She took my name and number just in case she runs across anything else SSC. I thought of my friend Claire while I was shopping this lady's both because she had everything you would need to decorate a strawberry themed kitchen.
On the photo on the right, you see the woman who made my yard-sale huntin' strawberry shortcake lovin' heart skip a beat. The vintage SSC stove/sink combo and refrigerator belonged to her 26 year old daughter when she was younger. She sold me the set for $20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was also extremely kind and helpful in helping me take the stove hood off so I could fit it in my taurus. I've decided that I really need a truck for all of this yard sale madness!
I only went to one other sale today and it was also a good one - albeit it not as huge. The first two pictures I posted show everything else that I bought today, with the exception of a Longaberger basket tree that I purchased for $10. I plan to resell the jewelry box and jewelry. Everything else is a keeper.

Pictures from Veronica's Shower

It was a really nice time!

This last one is a picture of Veronica after she burst into happy tears. She was completely and utterly surprised and overcome with emotion. The look on her face was priceless!

Prayer Requests

I believe in the power and promise of prayer. I believe that God hears our prayers and answers every one of them. He doesn't always give me the answers that I anticipated and certainly works in His own time, but He is faithful in answering them. This weekend, I've been struggling with some things -- trying to understand why the Lord has allowed some things. I know that He allows things for a purpose, that He has a plan, and I serve a sovereign God. However, I'm human and sometimes it's hard to swallow the rough times.

Please join me in praying for:

My brother, Tim, who was in an accident and is recovering in a hospital in Columbus, Ohio. I haven't been able to talk to him yet because my mom said he is in so much pain that he doesn't want to talk on the phone. My brother has already been through so much, too much, with physical and other life problems. Please pray for him.

My feet. I had to have more cortisone shots in my feet recently. I have developed plantars faciitis in both feet and it is extremely painful. I've been dealing with this for about a year and a half and I think the time has come to consider surgery. Ugh.

One of my students, that will have to remain unnamed for obvious reasons. Tuesday marks the one year anniversary of her grandmother's passing and she is a very brave, yet very sad teenager.

It seems to be the season for broken relationships. *sigh* I have several friends and one close family member that are going through difficult times right now in their marriages. I pray that they will find a peaceful place to be - but more importantly that they will live in God's will for their lives.

I also have praises for this week. Let's give God all of the glory!!!!!!!!

I lost 5 1/2 pounds this week. Not an easy task.

Yesterday, was a wonderful day spent with friends and family just scrapbooking, cardmaking, and chatting. A surprise shower that I threw for my friend Veronica was a huge success.

I'm grateful for so many things -- my husband and our happy marriage at the top of the list!

If you have a prayer request, please let me know.

Why Do I Always Find Myself In Wally World?

I'm always saying that I hate Wal-Mart. Why? Oh, well, let's see...... I claim that I hate parking a mile away, battling the crowds, standing in the long lines, and listening to the screaming babies. Is it just me, or is there always a screaming baby at Wal-Mart?

Wal-Mart doesn't double coupons and that STINKS.

However, I had to admit something to myself today. I go to Wal-Mart all of the time. *hangs head in dissapointment. I went there today to drop off a prescription and check out the Strawberry Shortcake doll inventory. I was there Monday to buy fruit. Brian and I stopped in on Saturday to price computers. Ah-hah! The el cheapo prices........that is my inevitable reason for returning to the abyss of Wally World. Can it be avoided? Especially by a frugal franny like myself?

Currently, a brand new Wal-Mart is being constructed literraly 1 tenth (.1) of a mile away from my home. I could walk there if I wanted. How frequently will I visit the retail giant then?

Why, oh why aren't they building the greatest store on Earth just a stone throws away? Which store is that, you're wondering????? Well, the Dollar Tree, of course!

The Diva Has Landed

So, here I am.

Officially gone from the creepy pages of MySpace, I've decided to relocate my blog to something a little more, shall I dare say, mature. *snicker*

I'm hoping that with the move to blogger.com I'll be more inspired to actually blog and keep everyone informed of what is going on in my life, my family, my thoughts, my prayers, my hopes, and my endevours. I'll probably also post quite a bit about my never ending quest to lose weight. Also expect to read a smattering of blogs about my scrapbooking, cardmaking, Strawberry Shortcake collection, and Saturday morning garage sale adventures.

So, I raise a toast of Diet Coke to my new found corner of cyberspace here at blogger.com

......here, here
