HappyScrapper's "Trash to Treasure" Meeting is April 26th

Mark your calendars, HappyScrappers! Here are the details for our next meeting:

Date: April 26th, 10:00 a.m. until whenever

Theme: Trash to Treasure..... One man's trash is another man's treasure.

What to Bring: Bring something to share for lunch - I will be making pizza. No Door Prizes this time! Instead, we are having an all out crafty yard sale! Basically, you need to go through your stash and decide to part with the supplies that you don't use, don't like, or make you ask yourself, "Why did I buy this?" Then, price your items. Bring them to our HappyScrapper meeting. We will have a time for buying, selling, and trading with each other. Anything cardmaking/scrapbooking is welcome.... stamps, stamp sets, inks, tools, punches, die cuts, ribbon, paper, stickers, embellishments, craft magazines, and so on. Please price your items and keep in mind that this is a yard sale amongst friends, so bargaining is welcome. :) Also, since our space is somewhat limited, please put your items in baskets or other containers that we can easily dig through. (I plan to donate all of my unwanted and unsold stuff to the Senior Center's Card Class. If you'd like to donate your leftovers, just leave them at my house and I'll be sure to donate them as well.)

Pretty Please With Sugar On Top: If you would like to demonstrate a card, technique, or project please let me know!

RSVP Required: Please RSVP no later than April 19, 2008 by emailing or calling. If you don't RSVP by this date, I will assume that you are not coming. The first person to RSVP will win a prize!

I can't wait to see you and get some scrappin' done. :)

HappyScrappers membership is by invitation only. Currently, our group is full.

Community Yard Sale Next Weekend

When: March 29th
Starts at: 8am.
Where: It is between the Millenium Strip Club and the Purple Iris, in a large development on Meteor Drive.

Don't let the location full ya' - It is a nice subdivision. But hey, if you're looking four 4 inch acrylic high heels with lights in 'em, you could always make a pit stop at the strip club. :)

Thank you, Other Becky, for the heads up on this one.

Finally.... Yard Sale News!

It's finally that time of year that I can start bloggin' about my favorite hobby.... yard sales! Woo Hoo! Do a happy dance because yard sale season is officially here.

My first yard sale tip is to write down any yard sale you hear about. You won't remember if you don't write it down. Trust me.

Your first yard sale to take note of this season:

Spaces are $10.00, tables additional $10.00.
Fun Fair for the kids 10am-2pm.

A big thank you to Carrie Ross for this information and to The Buyer's Guide for running the details.

Happy Mail!

Thank you, Veronica - dear friend, fellow Strawberry Shortcake collector, and papercrafting addict - for giving me this gorgeous gift card AND a vintage Angel Cake nightgown. I love the card and I've been wanting the night gown forever, so I am very grateful.

Flowers From Home Page

This great paper came from WallyWorld! If you find cute paper there, buy it. My experience is that the cute paper at WallyWorld sells out quickly and then all of the ugly stuff hangs around for months and months. The layout is about a bouquet of roses that my family sent to me when I won the A.C.E. Award. The tiny flower brads are from Making Memories. The stickers and Tag are things that I have had FOREVER (like years!). The turquoise carstock is Stampin' Up. This was the first time that I used a Crop-A-Dile. What an incredible tool! I can't belive I waited so long to get one.

HappyScrappers Was Great Fun

Our March meeting was very fun. The goodie bags this month were actually a small Easter basket with four eggs filled with Prima flowers, ribbon, brads, and buttons. Veronica came with Cameron and we just couldn't get enough of him and his incredibly cute head of hair.

Carolyn made some great cards with her scallop punch and paint chips. Carrie did an awesome job of scraplifting a card with lots of ribbon. Jessica had us all in stitches over her "Midget Stripper" Layout. She titled it, "The Devil Made Me Do It." OtherBecky was able to finish several pages including her new ultrasound picture of her baby BOY! I finished one card, one 12x12 page and six 8x8 pages in my family camping album.

Our next meeting will be April 26th. Please save the date. This is going to be an especially fun meeting that you won't want to miss!

HappyScrappers March Meeting and Misc.

The next HappyScrappers meeting is scheduled for this Saturday. Our theme is "Anything Goes".... in other words, we don't really have a theme this month. Ha!

RSVP that they will be attending:
Carrie, Carolyn, OtherBecky, Jessica, Myself, and maybe Veronica

I want to thank everyone that has sent cards or flowers, called me, and prayed for my family this week and last. Your thoughts and prayers have meant so much.

My computer has officially CRASHED. Right now, I'm logged in at work. My blogging will be very limited until we replace the computer.

Fly Away, Grandma

Heaven is a wonderful place,
Filled with Glory and Grace,
Oh, to see my Savior's face,
Heaven is a wonderful place.

You are forever in my heart, Grandma. Some of my favorite childhood memories are from the summer weeks that I would spend with you. We would watch soap operas and you would make hamburgers and fried potatoes for supper. You'd tease me about being a city girl when I didn't want to help you in the garden. Then you'd let me wear your big floppy straw hat and I'd help you pick cherry tomatoes. We played dominoes, rummy, and UNO. You would let me win the last game. ;)

I'll always remember the time you pulled my first loose baby tooth, the three months I lived with you after the fire, our "you cook and I'll wash the dishes" agreement, and playing wiffle ball with you and the cousins out in the field.

Remember the time that you laughed so hard that you had to run to the bathroom because I didn't know that I was supposed to take the plastic bag of giblets out of the Thanksgiving turkey before I baked it? Oh, my.... "City girl," you said.

I'll remember your wit, your sense of humor, your smile. Your heart was filled with so much love and you loved each and every one of us the same. Nothing made you happier than seeing your children and grandchildren gathered together. Nothing made you smile more than a brand new grand baby.

The last time I saw you, you recognized me. You knew my name and you knew who I was. You were wearing the sweetest hat and sparkly earrings. You looked at me with the most adoring eyes.

I told you, "I love you."

You said, "I love you, too, Sweet Pea."

Our hearts smiled at each other.

*My grandmother left this world and went home to be with Jesus, today, March 1st, 2008. I'm sure that she's dancing on the streets of gold with my Grandpa Earl, cracking jokes with David and Squeak, and wrapping Billy in a big, cozy quilt. I will miss her always.*
