Even More Strawberry Shortcake Cards
I worked on some more Strawberry Shortcake cards yesterday. In just one week, I'll be in Cleveland with some of my berry best friends. I'm very excited to see all of them and add some cool stuff to my collection. I wish my cards were as beautiful on camera as they are in person. Btw, I appreciate comments!

My Visit to P-burg
The croquet game...
The Picnic
Aunt Janice and I
I adore my Aunt Irene.
I went to Parkersburg last week to see my family. I had a nice drive there - perfect, sunny weather. On Monday evening, my Aunt Nancy and Uncle Danny stopped by and that was a very nice surprise. I hadn't seen either of them since my Grandmother's funeral. We laughed until we almost cried listening to my cousin Danny tell stories. He should write a book! On Wednesday evening, the thunderstorms went away and the sun came out so we could have a picnic at Mountwood park. It was a wonderful time! In addition to my immediate family, my Aunt Irene, Unlce Lawrence, and Aunt Janice came along. We grilled some delicious food and played croquet. Who knew my mom was such a good croquet player?? The look on my Dad's face when mom beat him was PRICELESS! On Friday night, my Aunt Luanne stopped by and there is never a dull moment when she is around. I hope I have inherited some of her sense of humor. Of course I went to Crafts2000 before I came home. I didn't find as much as I usually do, but I was able to get some early Christmas shopping done. When I left P-burg, my brother seemed to be doing better. However, it's hard to really describe someone's health when they are chronically ill. I hope you are all having a blessed day!

Strawberry Shortcake Cards
Finally! Some new cards to share. I've been working on SSC themed cards to sell at the Convention next week. I made all of these cards in one evening, hence the simple layouts. For the stamped cards, I used stamps that have since been retired from a company that isn't in business anymore. For the other cards, I cut out images from a vintage cardboard dominoes game.

Yard Sales in Review 7/19
I totally forgot to take a picture of my goodies before I cleaned everything and put it away. Duh! I promise to do better next time. :) Anyhoo - I did find some good stuff. However, I was incredibly hot and the majority of the sales were either JUNK or OVERPRICED.
We started by going to the much publicized and overhyped, "14 mile yard sale" in Glengary. What a disappointment. There were only about ten stops along the route, and only one of the stops was decent. I only bought five paperback chapter books for my classroom and tennis balls (also for my classroom). I will probably never go to the "14 mile yard sale" again. EVER. One of the places we stopped was so gross that I felt that I needed to hose off after we left.
Things improved after we left the Glengary route. I found:
2 rolls of velvet ribbon
Gift bags/bows
Tablecloth
Basket
Many chapter books for my classroom
SSC lamp
SSC mcDonald's toys
Crock
Pie dish
cute apple thingie for my dining room
Jenga game
Two adorable sweatshirts (one Christmas, one Halloween)
A lot of envelopes.
Buying envelopes for my handmade cards can get expensive. So, I've been buying packs of cards at yard sales (25 cents) and just keeping the envelopes for my cardmaking. I bought about 60 envelopes for 75 cents in the course of the day yesterday. Woo Hooooooo!!!!!
The "Yard Sale of the Day" Award would definitely go to Friendship Church Of the Brethren. Their goodies were well displayed, clean, and cheap.

I'm grateful for Happy Mail
This Happy Mail came from my friend, Veronica. It's beautiful, and her blog is linked on the right. Check it out!
I'm still not feeling one hundred percent well. My doctor ordered more bloodwork on Friday and I'm awaiting the results. I spent the entire weekend with Brian's grandmother, so I'm exhausted. I'm hoping to spend a nice, calm day with Brian tommorrow. My brother is still in the hospital. I'm headed for Parkersburg as soon as they release him from the hospital. I have this overwhelming desire to spend time with him. I'm homesick, in general, I think.

Strawberry Shortcake Convention Scrapbook
In a month, I'll be attending the 2008 Strawberry Shortcake Collector's Convention in Cleveland, Ohio. It is one of the highlights of my summer vacation from school. It's a time to gather with other collectors, many of whom I consider special online friends that I only get to see once a year. The most enjoyable part of the convention for me is being surrounded by people who love the doll as much as I do and don't look at me funny when I start talking about "deluxe minis" "prototypes" and "concept art." I realized last week that I haven't scrapped the 2007 convention yet. ;) So, I started the 8x8 simple scrapbook during last week's HappyScrappers meeting, and I finished 12 pages in just one day! This is the opening page. I haven't scrapped anything since because I'm still under the weather, but I'm hoping to start feeling better this week so I'll have some new things to share.

I've Been Tagged!
My sweet friend, Becky, tagged me a long time ago and I never got around to doing it. So, now that I'm confined to sitting and sleeping and have some extra time on my hands, here goes:
The rules of the game: Each player answers the questions themselves. At the end of the post the player then tags a few people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment letting them know that they've been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you've posted your answers.

It's Pouring....
It's so cliche, but true.... when it rains, it pours! In addition to Brian's grandmother's illness, my brother is in ICU again due to diabetes complications. His sugar dropped below 20. He's on a respirator. To top it all off, I spent the night in the emergency room. To make a very long story short, I have a severe (and VERY painful) infection in my abdomen. I'm on really strong antibiotics and pain medication. If the antibiotics don't work within seven days, I'm going to have surgery. I have tried to sleep all day today, but the phone has been ringing off the hook. I thought about turning it off, but I don't want people to worry about me.... especially my poor parents, who got the phone call that I was at the hospital while they were 6 hours away with my brother in the ICU of a different hospital. About the only thing I can do that isn't painful is sit and/or sleep. It hurts to lay down, so I've been sitting up and sleeping. I don't want a big pity party or anything -- I just wanted to update everyone.
